New maps, new combat, new zombies, new inventory – it’s all here in our April Reanimation Update.

We’re excited for all the changes coming in, and without further ado, let’s dive into REANIMATION!

New Maps

We’re excited to debut Pottsville and Lewiston; new, tighter, more urban maps that will create heart-pounding moments as players check around every corner to make sure they do not get trapped in an inescapable alley with zombies closing in.

Pottsville

Fog stirs around your feet as you creep slowly towards the town limits. A morning silence broken only by the moans of zombies greet you as you make your way to the first neighbourhood, before the crackle of your radio alerts you to a call from the CRC – you are here to verify the reports of civilians sheltering in Pottsville, and if true, figure out the next steps to save them.

Pottsville is a rural small town where Responders will be looking to rescue civilians. You’ll start at the outskirts and explore the neighbourhoods, following leads from the CRC through the streets and alleys that could lead you to the Pottsville Bank, where some survivors attempted to access parts of the bank usually more secured; or to City Hall, where we’re sure the mayor and their staff must have made it out…

Responders will spawn separately into the Pottsville map and should eventually make their way to the formerly bustling downtown square, now empty save for the living dead that have no interest in the decorations or landscaping. Find your way to the community center, and learn the fate of Pottsville’s population along the way.

Randomized houses with different locations for your objectives brings new exploration with each playthrough of Pottsville, along with the introduction of a new minigame – Responders will need to align the radio to the correct wavelength.

Lewiston

Calling all Responders! The CRC has been called in to assist in Lewiston, Maine. The local CRC Team leader, Waldo, asked us to come out his way to lend a hand. Like many in the CRC, he didn’t expect to have to step up for a zombie uprising, and is feeling a little… overwhelmed, so we’ll be sending you in, but you’ll have to find your own way out – by boat or by train.

Lewiston is our surprise third map, as revealed during our Reanimation Announcement on April 8th!

We are thrilled to bring you to Maine, with 2 new types of extractions, randomized stores to explore, and a sunset over the small town giving everything, even the dead, a glow-up. Spawn together with up to 4 other Responders, try to find the rest of your group, and explore Lewiston. Make sure to check if you have overdue books at the Library, or if there are supplies left at the Pawn Shop. Keep an eye on the gathering shadows, watching for any movement in the autumn sunset.

Matchmaking Note – we’ll be adjusting the prevalence of how often each map appears, without the need for game updates to do so. Currently we’ll be weighting the matchmaking percentages more towards letting players experience the two new maps Lewiston and Pottsville more than Power Plant. As always we will listen to community feedback to inform us. Let us know which map is your favourite!

Character Roster

Players will have 3 character slots, and can select 3 different Responders to fill them. Each can have their own loadouts, character levels, and skills. You’ll be able to decide the difficulty of the match you want to play by selecting the Responder with the character level to match.

Clicking a filled slot will make that character active. Clicking an empty slot will bring up a character selection pop-up. Once a player starts matchmaking, character selection is locked.

Set up your favorite character build and loadout, and keep them ready for your sessions.

Character Reroll

Players will be able to spend match-earned credits to reroll the character selection when creating a new Responder. This will reroll all 3 of the options available.

We’re open to hearing feedback about the amount of credits spent for the reroll, and can adjust this without needing to patch the game, so please share that feedback with us regularly in the Discord!

Radial Inventory

The memorable NMRiH1-style Radial Inventory is back!

This weight-based style of inventory is easier to use dynamically in combat.

Weights are reflected in the size of each “slice” of the quadrant of the radial inventory. So, a 2 handed sledgehammer or wooden planks will take up a great deal of more “weight space” than a kitchen knife does. The earlier inventory in NMRIH2 was not weight-based but simply had a limited number of slots, regardless of the weight of things you were carrying.

You can set up a quick slot by highlighting over an item and pressing a number key (1-9).

Instead of the number of items counting against your inventory, all items will have a weight value that will affect your inventory. This is still being tuned, so please be sure to give feedback, either through our in-game menu or in our Discord.

Combat 2.0

We’ve talked about Combat 2.0 on our Livestream [Insert Link], and we are excited to get it into the hands of our Responders. How you combine your attacks and actions with those of other Responders will be more rewarding, and, we hope, lead to more cooperation between players.

Combat 2.0 will feature:

  • Directional Melee – Left or Right attacks with a melee weapon depending on the left or right input..
  • Strong Attacks – if you repeat the input, the 2nd attack will be stronger. For example, if you repeat a left left attack, the 2nd attack will be the stronger one.
  • Charged Attacks – hold your attack. It will hold the animation, and when you release it, you will deal a massive blow. There will be a difference between a Slashing attack, and a Bludgeoning attack. Try out the different attacks, and let us know which you decide to use.
  • Kick and Shove – both will have a different use in your attacks. Kick, performed by holding the “shove” key, will be an extension of your combo to move zombies. Use it alongside your fellow Responders’ attacks to direct and knock down zombies. Shove is usually to be combined with your other attacks to create a combo.

As part of Combat 2.0, weapons have gotten a rebalancing. Slashing and Bludgeoning style weapons will have different purposes. Body shots and headshots will have a different response, depending on the weapons.

Stamina has been rebalanced, and your ‘out-of-stamina’ state will be harsher – Responders will deal less damage and less impact when dealing blows.

Let us know of your experience with Combat 2.0 in the Discord[Insert Link]!

Zombie Variants

There are new zombies coming in with the new maps, including Riot Police and Construction Zombies.

We advise Responders to approach with caution and strategy, as both have helmets protecting them from headshots. Riot Police will have body armor to protect them from firearms, and some may also have a shield, protecting their body from attacks, so use your directional melee to deal damage.

You can also run into zombie police officers and even zombie chefs – who are looking to make you their next finely prepared meal.

Along with the new zombie types, there we have made improvements to the Shambler type such as the ability to walk around, summon zombies to help them after a few screams, and release a gas cloud that will increase the infection rate of a zombie in the cloud – plus, the cloud also has a chance to infect players itself. We have also added new styles to the Runner type of zombies. Our ‘Red Eyes’ zombies have also gotten an adjustment. No longer will they have red eyes coming out of the darkness – they’ll have an ‘eyeshine’ to them instead. More dead-like. They also can take damage regularly, instead of relying exclusively on headshots. The CRC does recommend still aiming for them first however – a ‘Prime’ state alters the zombies it affects, giving them more health and higher damage.

Notable Additions:

  • New Weapons:
    • Cleaver
      • Quick and sharp, one-handed bladed weapon
    • Tree Trimmer
      • Two-handed bladed weapon
      • Extended reach, great for removing limbs

NO MORE ROOM IN HELL 2 AT GAMESCOM https://tornbanner.com/2024/08/20/no-more-room-in-hell-2-at-gamescom/ Tue, 20 Aug 2024 19:07:22 +0000 https://tornbanner.com/?p=587 Responders!

Today at Gamescom Opening Night Live we unveiled a new trailer for No More Room in Hell 2 that showed off 8 player co-op gameplay and a new area of the massive Power Plant map – the Church.

Approach the Church however you wish, though veteran Civil Recovery Corps (CRC) leaders would suggest using stealth, as demonstrated by our team of responders in the trailer. Move through using melee to carefully and strategically pick off lone zombies – lest you are spotted by a Shambler, who will unleash an unholy scream that alerts other zombies to your presence.

Previously a meeting place for this rural Pennsylvanian community, the Church has seen some remodeling with the breakout of a growing apocalypse, and comes with its own unique objectives for responders to complete. Watch as a group of Responders use stealth to stay alive and pick off lone zombies using melee – until, that is, all hell breaks loose.

No More Room in Hell 2 encourages players to approach completing objectives in different ways, utilizing strategy along with whatever equipment or weapons they are able to scavenge. Complete the objective, and be rewarded with more supplies and weapons to aid in your mission.

Your path through towards the gates of the power plant isn’t about racking up the highest zombie kill count: survive together or die alone defending yourself with anything you can find, and earn rewards through completing objectives at critical CRC locations.

As you hunt for gear in the darkness, you may find the Shotgun, which can cause a lot of damage but alert the zombies, or a Baseball Bat that can be used in melee to maintain stealth. When it’s time to bring the flames of hell back to the undead, use explosives to create fires in the environment, inflicting damnation upon a zombie hoard.

Get your zombie survival plan ready, avoid being bitten, and we’ll see you around, Responders.

No More Room in Hell 2 Announced at Summer Game Fest 2024! https://tornbanner.com/2024/06/10/no-more-room-in-hell-2-announced-at-summer-game-fest-2024/ Mon, 10 Jun 2024 18:02:21 +0000 https://tornbanner.com/?p=574 Today, we announce that No More Room in Hell 2’s developer, Lever Games, was acquired by Quickhubfy, the studio behind Chivalry 1 & 2, and the original “Age of Chivalry” mod. The majority of the previous No More Room in Hell 2 team continues to work at the studio on this next game in the franchise. We’re all excited to bring an immersive, cinematic experience to a replayable zombie apocalypse in the style that Quickhubfy has become known for.

No More Room in Hell 2 continues with the core approach to the start of an outbreak, expanding the world with new details, new areas, and new objectives. With permadeath and tactical gameplay, we are expecting players will learn from failure and grow their skills from just surviving to working with others and helping other survivors. Explore a massive map with diverse regions, numerous spawn points, and multiple locations to explore.

Meet up with your friends in our 8-player co-op so that you can scavenge supplies and weapons that become necessary to work together to defend one another and complete objectives so that they can reach the Power Plant. Pennsylvania is dark with rolling brownouts, and survivors will need to get the power back on even as they start and stumble in the dark themselves, moving ever forward towards pockets of light and hope. .

Watch our announcement trailer here, and we look forward to sharing more with our community over the next month including a Livestream on June 11th and multiple blogs exploring details of No More Room in Hell 2.

Take care, Survivors!

Chivalry 2’s Regicide Update is Out Now! https://tornbanner.com/2024/05/30/chivalry-2s-regicide-update-is-out-now/ Thu, 30 May 2024 20:44:48 +0000 https://tornbanner.com/?p=535 The Regicide Update (2.11) is now available on all platforms for Chivalry 2!

Chivalry 2’s Regicide Update introduces the epic Team Objective Map – Regicide at Trayan Citadel, the new Goedendag weapon, a new Campaign, quality of life improvements, and more! Read on below.

Update Highlights

  • New Team Objective map – “Regicide at Trayan Citadel”
  • New Campaign Pass – “Regicide”
  • New Character Bundle – “Agatha Rebel Knight”
  • New Weapon – “Goedendag”
  • Combat Changes
  • QoL Improvements

ONCE MORE, LEGENDS WILL BE BORN

After many months of warfare, King Argon II and the allied Agathian noble houses make one final push to breach the walls of Trayan Citadel, the heart of Vantear and the Mason Order. However, Malric Terrowin will not stand for such insolence. Through fire, ash, and bloodshed, the kingdom shall finally decide…

“Who will sit upon the throne?”
For the Blue and Gold! For Argon! / For Malric! For the Red and Black!

New Team Objective Map – “Regicide at Trayan Citadel”

Agathians rally around their final hope in breaching the city walls: their battle ram of war called “The Lion’s Thrust.” In order to safely escort the ram, Agathians must retake the outer encampment from the Masons and regain the frontline strength. Should they breach the walls, the Agathian army must continue and blast their way to Malric’s castle through the Citadel, complete with a dreadful volcano (though some of the details, as told by tavern bards in the past, were highly exaggerated). The final stage will evoke Malric’s wrath, bringing him to the field of battle in a face-off against Argon II, leader of the Agathian Knights. Players must then fight and defend their king. Only one shall have claim to the kingdom!

New Weapon – “Goedendag”

A brutal weapon for a brutal age. Adding to the Poleman and Engineer’s subclass arsenal, the Goedendag is the shortest polearm of them all but the strongest and most versatile in damage output. While its slashes and overheads deal blunt damage, its stabs deal pierce damage, allowing the weapon to deal maximum damage to multiple class armour types. Be mindful of your attacks depending on the kind of opponent you are facing! In addition, this weapon’s special attack does massive damage against horses, stopping them in their tracks with a successfully timed blow. Take note of your swings during heavy attacks, as they are noticeably slower in comparison to your normal attacks.

Dev Notes: Since the release of Unofficial Servers with Update 2.10, we’ve been working closely with our Nitrado partners to determine how to enhance this new feature. So far, improvements have been performance issues adjustments, potential bug fixes, adding new Admin options, and implementing Nitrado Steelshield. (An added layer of protection against DDOS attacks)

We’ve also been monitoring the community feedback around the lack of Gold/XP earned within Unofficial Servers and how this difference could make playing within an Unofficial Server less appealing, especially to newer players. As of Update 2.11, Gold and XP  gains will be enabled across all Unofficial Servers. We still reserve the right to make adjustments and take action if we see that the improper gain or boosting of Gold/XP becomes popular. Still, we believe that a majority of servers will not abuse this added feature; instead, it will help bolster and highlight the excellent Unofficial Servers that users have been able to create.

New Major Feature – Skill Based Team Balancing

Teams will now balance players with an algorithm derived from global rank before the start of a given match. Once balanced, players will be unable to switch teams unless in the event of unbalanced player counts or when switched automatically by the game to maintain team balancing parameters.

The following modes will have Skill Based Team Balancing enabled:

  • 64 Player Team Objective (Matchmaking Queue)
  • 40 Player Mixed Modes (Matchmaking Queue)
  • Last Team Standing (Limited Time Queue and Standalone Servers)

This feature is currently not available for 3v3 Arena and Unofficial Servers, but we are exploring the option to add it in the future.

Additional Notes:
This feature was designed to help balance the start of a match, while still maintaining tight restrictions post-balancing around team size discrepancies. It behaves differently than a Skill Based Matchmaking system that would create entire lobbies of similarly skilled players ultimately requiring a much larger scope of work and introducing more risk. Due to the size of most of our lobbies, it made more sense for us to apply the balancing within the match itself.

Just before a match begins after all players have loaded in, the server will perform a shuffle taking into consideration players’ global ranks as well as their premade parties before assigning them a team. The system is built to prioritize parties staying together. The balance algorithm in use is not solely trying to achieve a 1:1 balance according to global rank.

After the shuffle is complete, teams must not create an imbalance of more than 1 player at any one time, or Team Switching will be restricted. For example: if there are two teams of 16 players and one player in spectate, that player can swap to either team as the new numbers would be 17 vs 16 (an imbalance of 1). But if there is a team of 17 and a team of 16, the player in spectate will be unable to swap to the team of 17, as that would create 18 vs 16 (an imbalance of 2).

Both 64 and 40-player matches in the server browser remain unaffected by this new feature as they are currently treated as a more social space for playing Team Objective and Team Deathmatch.

New Feature – Region Selection

Players will now have the option to select their Matchmaking region of preference. This option is available in the Game Options menu.

The following selections are available:

  • North America West
  • North America Central
  • North America East
  • South America West
  • West Europe
  • London
  • Paris
  • East Oceania
  • East Asia
  • South Korea
  • Japan

Please note that matchmaking search time and latency may be impacted depending on the region selected.

Combat

  • Blocking
    • Adjusted backstab angle checks to be more consistent

Certain perks like that backstab perk on Ambusher would not grant its bonus reliably. This led to an opportunity to improve the back hit detection in combat, making it more consistent in receiving the bonus for the class and to reward skillful footwork and swing manipulation in general.

Chivalry 2’s Reclamation Update introduces a brand new Team Objective Map – The Reclamation of Montcrux, A new weapon – the Siege Crossbow, The new Last Peasant Standing Gamemode, New Shield Loadouts, quality of life improvements and more! Read on below.

New Map – “The Reclamation of Montcrux”

Word of the Tenosian Empire’s invasion has spread, stirring the ire of the Agathian noble houses with bitter memories of old wars. Fueled by vengeance, a call to war against Tenosia has risen once again. “We must reclaim our grounds and fight once more for Argon, our one and true King!!” Within days, the Agathians rallied enough troops and marched back into the unknown lands of the South, reaching the great fortress of Montcrux, a battleground scarred by many battles of the past.

This is an uphill climb for the Agathians. They must break through the fortress’s walls with petards and avoid a rain of ballista fire from the Tenosians as the bombards continue to fire against the Agathian siege towers and camp. Should they break through, Agathians must then lift the keep’s gates and disable the bombards launching above, reclaiming the fortress as theirs once again.

New Weapon – “Siege Crossbow”

Unlike its more lightweight predecessor, the Siege Crossbow (available for the Crossbowman subclass) fires bolts that can deal notable damage to non-objective siege weapons and constructables. It also has the power to pierce through them. Be wary when hiding behind barricades! While it may deal considerable damage, use caution when reloading, aiming, and shooting, as this is a bulky weapon and you are limited in the amount of shots you can fire. Make them count!

New Limited Time Gamemode – “Last Peasant Standing”

The peasantry of Aberfell are having a feud! Whose turn was it to feed the pigs? Who keeps destroying the cabbage wagons?! Who sacrificed our good farmer Shaun to the Mason druids?! (That wasn’t supposed to happen until this weekend!)

As a fragile peasant owing fealty to the Agathian Knights or Mason Order, scramble for weapons to defeat the enemy team through multiple rounds! Very limited weapons of war are present on the map, so grab whatever you can find. The victor goes to the team that wins five rounds in total.

  • Ripostes
    • Fixed an issue where a corrected riposte would cost double stamina
  • Stabs
    • Stabs for all weapons now thwack when hitting teammates

Upon further ongoing review of the current combat, it was noted that players would use stabs while behind a teammate to mask their attack, resulting in a disadvantage for the defender when reading and defending against such attacks. This has been addressed. Note that for 2.9, this can still be accomplished through a heavy stab, which we will be looking to address in the future.

We have been discussing the state of the matchmaking queues and looking to refine the existing queues based on player feedback. As a result, the main queue is now TO only, and 40 player mixed modes are back on the main page. Note that 40 player mixed modes in standalone servers is different from matchmaking servers in the sense that they do not include horses.

This fix addresses a major issue where a user could crash on game start if using Xbox or Gamepass while owning Chivalry 2 on another Xbox platform. Please note that, as a side effect of this fix, the Xbox user’s crossparty friends list will be wiped. The player on these platforms will need to add their crossparty friends once more. We apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Fixed an issue where the player’s shadow would appear headless in first person mode
  • Fixed an issue where time left for a vote kick would be inaccurate
  • Fixed an issue where maxed playtime players were unable to gain gold or XP
  • Improved Intel Xess support
  • Addressed an issue where the title “Overachiever” would not grant under rare circumstances
  • Dismembered limb piles now substitute with logs on minimal gore settings

  • Security improvements

Known Issues

  • We’re aware that player customization and some options like PC keybinds are being reset when launching 2.9 for the first time. Thanks for your patience while we investigate.
  • Thrown weapons do no damage if hitting the same target a second time shortly after hitting them the first time
  • Dismembered heads from players change to default customization
  • There’s an inconsistency with the breakables that are affected by siege crossbow
  • Report button does not focus properly on gamepad
  • Occasional failure when adding friends
  • Kills on the progression tab are not incrementing properly
  • Achievement progress visually does not track (but does increment properly behind the scenes). Firing 1000 arrows achievement for example will not properly represent how many arrows you’ve fired, but it will still update the actual number and unlock at 1000.
  • In game UI may not list all players in the party
  • Siege Crossbow – Unintended reload animation on horseback
  • Siege Crossbow – Flickers after being thrown
  • Siege Crossbow – Inconsistencies on what objects it damages and doesn’t damage
  • Siege Crossbow – Inaccurate tooltip is currently present for the current iteration of the weapon
  • TO_Bulwark – There are some duplicated mantlets placed within other mantlets
  • Templar Knight Armour Clips with Heads
  • Crossparty – No confirmation on unfriending
  • Crossparty – Crash after unfriending someone and then closing the game
  • With 2.9, the game directory was changed which has caused PC users to lose their customization and settings. There is a potential workaround below that may help resolve this:
  1. Close the game
  2. Navigate to your %appdata/local/chivalry2/saved/cloud folder
  3. In a separate window, navigate to the location where your game is stored
  4. Navigate through Chivalry 2/TBL/Saved/Cloud
  5. Backup the folder in your game directory
  6. Copy over the cloud folder in your app data directory to your game location directory
  7. Start the game

Chivalry 2 Raiding Party Update is Here! https://tornbanner.com/2023/05/02/chivalry-2-raiding-party-update-is-here/ Tue, 02 May 2023 20:04:45 +0000 https://tornbanner.com/?p=530 Chivalry 2 introduces cross-platform parties beta, a brand new Team Objective Map – The Sacking of Bridgetown, the Heavy Cavalry Sword, a new Campaign Pass – Raiding Party, a new gamemode – Mounted Arena, combat changes, and quality of life improvements in Chivalry 2’s new Raiding Party Update! Read on below.

New Major Feature – CROSS-PLATFORM PARTIES

We are excited to finally be releasing a beta version of this long requested feature to Chivalry 2, which now allows players to add players to their in-game Friend List from any platform through the use of friend codes. Each player has a unique friend code that can be generated. Once added, players can invite friends and create parties in the main menu, regardless of their platform. Please note that, while this feature is now available for players, it is currently in Beta – which means some bugs and issues can be expected as we continue to improve this feature. If you are having issues with adding a friend or joining a friend’s party, please attempt re-adding your friend or restarting your game.

New Map – “The Sacking of Bridgetown”

The news of King Argon’s victory against the Masons at Thayic Stronghold has spread across Agatha. The nobles of Irilla and the surrounding lands have come together for a decadent celebration, filling Bridgetown with laughter and joy. The wine flows and the noblemen dance to the music and cheers, this is surely a day that will be remembered for generations to come!

Outside the city walls the peasants toil in the fruitful vineyards that provided such an ample supply of fine wines for the festivities. The distant sound of the partying gentry is pierced by a harrowing horn, but this is no horn of the north. The workers grab what meager armaments they can and await the storm.

After successfully breaching the bulwark at Baudwyn the Tenosian Empire has begun the second phase of their invasion. In order to further their advance inland they must cross the river through Bridgetown. The Tenosian army will stop at nothing; setting the outlying farms and vineyard ablaze and defenestrating the cowardly nobles.

New Weapon – “Heavy Cavalry Sword”

With Weathered Heavy Cavalry Sword, Heavy Cavalry Sword, and Decorated Cavalry Sword skins

A new one handed weapon for the Man-at-Arms Footman Soldier and Knight Guardian, this sword has long reach and slow swings. In addition, it features incredible prowess on horseback in comparison to other weapons, having slash attacks that differ from its slash attacks on foot. This weapon can also be held forward while inputting a special attack on horseback. Lead the charge!

New Limited Time Arena Mode – “Mounted Arena”

Think you’re a good horseman? Looking to stick a lance into someone’s chest without any distractions? Prove it to the cheering crowd in this new 1v1 mode for Arena enthusiasts! Coming soon as part of our limited time queue rotation, two players on horseback challenge each other to a joust on Tournament Grounds with various weapons. The round doesn’t end until your opponent is completely defeated.

New Campaign Pass – “Raiding Party”

Like a traditional Battle Pass, players can complete challenges and earn in-game rewards such as currency and armoury items as they play. The Raiding Party Campaign Pass has no time limit, so you can earn rewards at your own pace.

Play the Raiding Party Campaign Pass at no cost to unlock free currency and armoury items, or upgrade to unlock premium rewards. The Premium Campaign Pass can be purchased for 1000 Crowns in-game.

  • New campaign select screen, and the ability to select the active campaign
  • New post match notifications of unlocks and campaign progress
  • New free campaign pass with 10 customization unlocks
  • New premium campaign pass available in the store with 30 additional customization unlocks

Combat

Arrow Cam

  • Addressed an exploit where players could interact with objects through Arrow Cam

Takedown Threshold

  • Takedown requirement has been adjusted to 25 from 50

To encourage players to use more of their potential combat options (and to give longbow users their fair chance at a takedown), we have adjusted the takedown threshold to 25 for a takedown credit.

Parry

  • Fixed an issue where players could get disarmed when out of stamina during Active Parry
  • Slightly increased the width of the parry box to increase its effectiveness against late stab drags

Certain weapons like two-handed spear and longsword were able to get around the parry box at the tail end of their stab attacks via dragging. This change addresses these instances where the attack should have been blocked.

  • Fixed an exploit where certain weapons could circumvent an opponent’s parry when feinting from Slash to Alt Slash

Certain weapons like the Longsword, Messer, and other thin weapons could circumvent an opponent’s block through the use of Slash to Alt Slash feint attacks. To address this, the positioning of a player’s block was slightly adjusted to close any front facing gaps.

Jabs

  • Addressed an exploit where jabs could circumvent cooldown when jabbing after a dodge
  • Addressed an exploit where jabs could circumvent cooldown when part of an attack combo
  • Addressed an exploit where jabs could circumvent cooldown when used after a combo feint
  • Fixed an issue where jabs would come out faster while holding an offhand item
  • Slightly reduced horizontal size of jab’s hitbox

The jab’s horizontal radius has been slightly decreased for polish and to allow it to be dodged a little more successfully through the use of footwork and crouching. In addition, multiple instances where the jab could circumvent cooldown under certain combat conditions were addressed to maintain consistency.

Shields

  • Fixed an issue where the pavise shield would disrupt player movement
  • Fixed an issue where shields on the player’s back would make them a bigger target for attacks
  • Heavy shields now block all projectiles when equipped from the back

Shields were unintentionally increasing the player’s hitbox, allowing attacks to land hits outside of expected collision conditions. This fix addresses this concern as well as adding another feature for heavy shields during combat.

General

  • Addressed an exploit where the flaming chicken could damage and set teammates on fire, to prevent griefing

The Flaming Chicken griefing exploit fix was initially done for 2.7 but was held for release for further fixes that had to be addressed as a result of this change.

  • Addressed an exploit where heavy attacks and feint attacks could be canceled in neutral after a previously successful attack

If the player had previously landed an attack against a player or object that could receive damage, the player could at any point cancel a heavy or feint attack into block during neutral engagement. This resulted in noted exploits in the community such as “quadruple feints” and more.

  • Added bonus score for Defense

In order to further encourage players who are on the Defending team of a given Team Objective map, bonus score is given to those who defeat Attacking team opponents.

  • Fixed an issue where players would be kicked for team damage from objectives

Certain objectives have the functionality to cause damage to players. This damage applies universally. Situations like the ram on Lionspire or petards on Falmire had the chance to kill too many players on the same team, causing the game to unfairly kick the player who initiated the objective for excessive team damage. This issue was addressed in light of this.

  • Addressed an exploit where players could attack faster than combos through spamming counter inputs into blocks

It was discovered that if a player inputs a counter, inputs block after a successful hit, and then inputs another counter attempt afterwards, their attack speed would be faster than a typical combo. This was noted to be effective with certain weapons such as the one-handed mace or two-handed spear. The pace when counters come out after a previous successful hit was slightly adjusted as a result. This does not impact counter input speed.

  • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes teleport while dodging or tackling
  • Fixed an issue where players would not switch to their secondary weapon after the primary weapon has been used up
  • Fixed an issue where team damage would stop healing when out of combat
  • Fixed an issue where players could maintain sprint speed while holding crouch on run in spawn
  • Fixed an issue where interacting with objects while using the controller would cause the emote wheel to appear
  • Fixed an issue where dying to a spike trap after being healed by a teammate would penalize the teammate’s score for team killing
  • Addressed an exploit where Horse momentum could be used for massively increased damage against destructible objectives

Weapons and Carryables

New Weapon – Heavy Cavalry Sword

  • Fixed an issue where the Vanguard sprint attack would have inaccurate tracers
  • Adjusted tracers for all weapons to address handle hits and further swing-throughs discovered

Many weapons were able to land hits earlier than intended due to tracers encompassing the handle of the weapon. Most notable offenders include weapons such as the poleaxe and pickaxe. To address this, tracers for all weapons were readjusted.

Bandage Kits

  • Fixed an issue where bandage kits would bounce off of teammates

Bear Trap

  • Fixed an issue where triggering a bear trap while sitting on a bench would cause the player to desync

Bottle

  • Fixed an issue where if the player threw a bottle while holding an offhand item, the player would wield their two-handed weapon with one hand

Catapults

  • Fixed a rare issue where loading a rock would not bring out the player’s primary weapon
  • Removed longshot bonus from Catapults

Players using catapults in early objective stages such as Stage 2 of Lionspire were able to climb the scoreboard early on in a match. Given the destructive capabilities of the catapult in comparison to other range based weapons of warfare, this was addressed by removing this bonus per kill.

Crossbow

  • Fixed an issue where the player would disconnect when using a melee attack followed by a reload

Greatsword

  • Fixed an exploit where the special attack could hit on frame 1 when looking all the way down

Heavy Mace

  • Adjusted stamina loss reduction from 20% to 10%

Horse

  • Fixed an issue where in certain situations rear kicking an opponent would make the opponent unable to move forward or backward

Javelin

  • Fixed an issue where refilling ammo would not auto-equip the weapon if the player had no other weapons in their hands

Katars

  • Fixed an issue where the sprinting special attack hitboxes were ending too early
  • Extended tracer duration by a few frames for the stab and slash attacks
  • Increased sprint attack damage from 30 to 60
  • Made headbutt timing faster to match it more in line with jab like other weapons
  • Decreased stamina drain when blocking attacks
  • Adjusted tracers overall for special attack

After further review and from player feedback received, it was noted that Katars were severely underperforming in comparison to other weapons. These changes aim to increase the unique strengths of the Katars as well as to allow them to have more opportunities in head to head engagements.

Messer

  • Fixed an exploit where the special attack could hit on frame 1 when looking all the way down

Poleaxe

  • Adjusted stamina loss reduction from 20% to 10%

Quarterstaff

  • Adjusted stamina loss reduction from 20% to 10%
  • Addressed an exploit where quarterstaff could indefinitely input slash attacks without running out of stamina over time

Sword

  • Fixed an issue where the sword would be unable to be picked up if using the Cross Hilt Sword customization variants

Throwing Knives

  • Fixed an issue where refilling ammo would not auto equip throwing knives while holding a one-handed weapon

Throwing Axe

  • Fixed an issue where refilling ammo would not auto-equip to the weapon if the player had no other weapons in their hands

New Carriables (featured in Bridgetown)

  • Grape Chunk
  • Millstone
  • Ploughs
  • One-handed toy horse
  • Nobles

Matchmaking

  • Addressed an issue where Xbox Parties would occasionally drop after map change

  • Applied a sound effect for when the lance is fully couched on horseback

  • Fixed an issue where the “Battle of the Bastards” achievement would not unlock
  • [Consoles] – Fixed an issue where consoles could not join Passworded servers in Server Browser successfully

Known Issues

Cross-Platform Parties BETA

  • Signing into a different account while the game is open keeps the same friend invite code
  • New leader’s name does not display for other clients on pop-up banner when old leader leaves
  • In game UI may not list all players in the party
  • Xbox Series X cannot remove a Steam friend

General

  • Achievement progress visually does not track (but does increment properly behind the scenes). Firing 1000 arrows achievement for example will not properly represent how many arrows you’ve fired, but it will still update the actual number and unlock at 1000.
  • Shield users are unable to charge attack and tackle when projectiles are in the shield
  • Occasional screen hitching/freezing when playing
  • Occasional state mismatch between client and server for counter success or riposte success
  • 1P mesh is being used for shadows
  • Kills on the progression tab are not incrementing properly
  • Attacking with your player and kicking with the horse at the same time locks horse movement to right and left (workaround is to kick again to unlock horse movement)

Customization

  • [PC] (Potentially Resolved) First spawn in a map results in an uncustomized shield

Console

  • Console players may experience trouble reporting other players

2023 Roadmap for Chivalry 2! https://tornbanner.com/2023/02/06/2023-roadmap-for-chivalry-2/ Mon, 06 Feb 2023 13:59:16 +0000 https://tornbanner.com/?p=516 Welcome to 2023, knights! We are doing a recap of changes to the game that happened in the month of January. We will also be providing a brief update of what you can expect throughout the next year for Chivalry 2.

New to Chivalry 2: Featured Events

This year Chivalry 2 will be hosting a selection of Limited Time queues that will appear on the Play menu. This year so far we’ve had The Last Team Standing and Free-For-All queues to choose and play from, and you can expect a new option to be playable this coming February.

Currently running until Feb 13th is a new 40-player Archer-only (bow and crossbow) gamemode called Volley. Play on Volley on three maps: Falmire, Galencourt, and Wardenglade.

Map Rotation Changes

In case you missed our social posts about it (feel free to join our Discord or follow us on Twitter to get the latest updates on Chivalry 2), we recently made two changes to maps appearing in various matchmaking queues. First, FFA Hippodrome has been removed from the FFA map rotation in the Standalone Servers, at the request of the Free-For-All community.

Additionally the frequency of Assault on Thayic Stronghold has reduced in the 64 and 40-Player Mixed Modes queue by 75%, and reduced for the Mounted Warfare queue and the Training Grounds by 50%. We have seen player concerns, and are in the process of reviewing performance issues with the Stronghold map. We hope to provide more information about this in a future update.

IN-PROGRESS for 2023

  • Cross-Platform Parties
  • New Team Objective and more Free-For-All maps
  • New Campaigns featuring new weapons, armors, and much more
  • New Weapon types

Disclaimer: The above forecast is all in active development and is not exhaustive, however all development work may be subject to change or delays.

Cross Platform Parties
Certainly one of the most anticipated features for Chivalry 2, the team remains hard at work to finally release cross-platform parties to our players this year.

New Campaign Passes
This year we will continue our Campaign Pass system that will feature many new weapon skins, armors and more for you to unlock just by playing Chivalry 2. Both free and premium campaign passes will be available. New Campaign Passes won’t override or replace old Campaign Passes, and more than one Campaign Pass can be active at a time.

New Maps
This year Chivalry 2 is excited to bring you multiple new maps. These new playable maps will include Team Objective maps of impressive scale, and additional Free-For-All maps as well.

New Weapon Types
We’re planning to add multiple brand new weapons to the game as part of our content updates this year. Stay tuned for more information here on which weapons you can expect to see in 2023.

It’s going to be a great year for Chivalry 2, and we’re only just getting started. Thank you for your continued support, and we’ll see you on the battlefield.
